The Client & Challenge

Great footage, but flat baseline reach

WeCam Safaris is a Kenya- and Tanzania-focused safari and wildlife operator producing scenic, high-quality content β€” yet social visibility was low relative to the scale of what was being produced, and organic Facebook reach was flat to declining heading into the year.

The brief: convert that cinematic safari footage into consistent, measurable reach, with a content mix (photos, reels, stories) that scales efficiently across two platforms.

Campaign Objectives
Grow total views & reach across Facebook and Instagram.
Increase interactions (likes, comments, shares) year-over-year.
Find the formats that return best β€” photos vs. reels vs. stories.
Build a shareable content library of wildlife, culture & destination stories.
Use paid amplification strategically while growing organic reach in parallel.
SMO Strategy Implemented

Reels were only 17 of 59 published pieces (29%) but drove 86 of 550 total interactions and over 10,600 views β€” a disproportionately strong return relative to production volume. Link-format ad creative drove the bulk of raw view volume (375,949), consistent with the paid-media-led growth above.

The Brief

A crowded market. A $3K+ product. A modest test budget.

WeCam Safaris β€” a Kenya-based operator offering premium 7- and 11-day itineraries from €2,300 per person β€” needed international lead generation across the USA, Australia, Spain, France, Germany and UK.

The safari space is dominated by well-funded South African and Tanzanian operators outspending WeCam 10-to-1. The brief: build a lean, testable Meta engine that generated qualified leads, filtered out tire-kickers before the sales team spent time on them β€” and converted at least some of those leads into booked trips.

Our Approach

Three moves that reshaped the campaign

01

Storytelling creative over feature listing

Replaced generic β€œbook a safari” ads with emotionally-led hooks β€” β€œSome places you visit. Kenya, you feel.” β€” paired with cinematic imagery of the Great Migration and luxury lodges. Split-tested brand vs. urgency angles.

02

Region-first testing, not blanket global

Ran the US/EU brief first, then followed the data. Several secondary countries surfaced as unexpected winners β€” and a dedicated Middle East trial outperformed everything.

03

Itinerary-led lead qualification

Rebuilt the Instant Form around three questions: which itinerary, when travelling, budget tier. The sales team stopped fielding β€œjust browsing” enquiries β€” every lead came in pre-qualified with intent.

The Roadmap

Where we're taking it next

1

Reallocate 40% of budget to the Middle East

Saudi Arabia and the UAE deliver the cheapest, highest-volume leads and have proven booking conversion. Scale spend there with creatives built around Gulf family-travel triggers.

2

Build lookalikes from booked customers

Use the confirmed customers as a high-value seed for Value-Based Lookalikes β€” the most reliable way to compound Meta lead-gen into repeat bookings.

3

Launch Facebook-dominant ad sets

Given the ~30% CPL advantage on Facebook, break Instagram into a separate ad set (or exclude it) to concentrate spend where it converts best.

4

Sunset low-yield markets

A few countries delivered one lead each at $28–$121 CPL. Pause these and redirect budget to the top confirmed winners.

5

Test Click-to-WhatsApp for the Middle East

Gulf audiences convert 2–3Γ— higher on WhatsApp than on lead forms. A parallel WhatsApp campaign could unlock even lower cost-per-booking and warmer conversations.

6

Expand the September group tour into a rolling model

The urgency-led β€œ12 seats Β· September 4” angle worked. Add October, January and July departures to create a rolling scarcity engine β€” not a one-time push.
